Bio

Brian has been fighting to defend constitutional rights and to provide his clients with the best representation available since 1988.  He began his career in Olney, Illinois as the Assistant State's Attorney for Richland County.  He left Olney for active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Series Officer, Prosecutor and Chief Government Council for Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

In 1992, Shinkle left active duty and was elected State's Attorney for Edwards County, Illinois.  Shinkle served as an Infantry Officer in the Marine Corps Reserve during his time as State's Attorney, holding billets of Platoon Commander, Company Commander, and Staff Officer.  In 2004, Shinkle was mobilized and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.  For service in Iraq, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Upon completion of his fourth term as State's Attorney for Edwards County, Shinkle opened the Law Office of Brian Shinkle.  Since then, he has represented clients throughout Southeast Illinois in Criminal, Family, Juvenile, Business, Real Estate and other matters.  In addition to his private practice, Shinkle represents indigent defendants as the Public Defender for Edwards and White Counties.
