With more than 30 years experience as an attorney, I have represented many different clients in complex matters.  Throughout your case, I will remain focused on your best interests.

A veteran of more than 30 jury trials, Brian has had success as a prosecutor and defense counsel.  His broad experience allows him to tailor his approach to your individual needs.

Brian has been fighting to defend constitutional rights and to provide his clients quality representation since 1988.  He began his career as the Assistant State's Attorney for Richland County.  He left Richland County for active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Series Officer, Prosecutor and Chief Government Council for Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

In 1992, Shinkle left active duty and was elected State's Attorney for Edwards County, Illinois.  In 2004, Shinkle was mobilized and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.  For service in Iraq, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

After serving Edwards County for sixteen years as State's Attorney, Shinkle opened the Law Office of Brian Shinkle.  Since then, he has represented clients throughout Southeast Illinois in Criminal, Family, Juvenile, Business, Real Estate and other matters.  In addition to his private practice, Shinkle serves as the Edwards County Public Defender.
